Public Hearing : Omodara Commends Various Presentations, Says it is towards the actualization of a long time dream

The State Security Adviser to Kogi State Government, Commander Duro Jerry Omodara (Rtd) has commended the well-articulated presentations on the upgrading of the ABU college of Agriculture, Kabba to a full-fledged University.

He made his position known shortly after the Public hearing on a bill for the establishment of Federal University of Agriculture, Kabba at National Assembly on Monday 22 March

According to Commander Omodara, the importance of the public hearing towards the actualization of a long term aspiration to have a Federal University in Okun land cannot be overemphasized. It is timely  response to the desire of the people. He commended the efforts of Senator Smart Adeyemi for the Bill and for good representation of the people of Kogi West.
He said “the  presence of notable Okun sons and daughters including our traditional rulers is an indication of United front and a renewed strength among Okun people for development. It has also demonstrated our preparedness to make this dream for a University a reality.

At the hearing, Senator Smart Adeyemi gave reasons while the College should be upgraded to a full-fledged University.  He pointed out that similar Colleges/campuses established after ABU College of Agriculture Kabba, not less than four of such Agriculture Colleges in Markurdi, Sokoto,Kano and Bauchi have all been upgraded to full-fledged universities.
The Okun Development Association National President., Barr Femi Mokikan, said the school was established in 1964 by late Sir Ahmadu Bello, and handed over to ABU in 1971. That we have over 500 Professors in Okunland which goes to show that Okun main industry is Education.

Other Okun delegates led by Obaro of Kabba spoke in turns: Agbana of Isanlu, Vice  Admiral Joseph Ajayi, Dr. David Atte, Prof. Emily Alemika, Hon Commissioner for Women Affairs, Kogi State, Engr Emmanuel Ajibero all spoke in support of the upgrade of the College to a University.

Other legislators across Kogi State canvassed for its actualization. Amongst them are Hon. Leke Abejide, representing Yagba Federal constituency.
Senator Echocho from Kogi East as well as Senator Oseni Yakubu from Kogi Central appealed that the bill be passed.
Also, Senator Ayo Akin from Ondo State supported the bill so that it can cater for the needs of our youths who are just roaming the streets.
