His Excellency Dr. Solomon S. Jere, The High Commission of the Republic of Zambia in Nigeria has said that his country has not lost its sovereignty to China over bad debts. He made the on Wednesday during a press briefing in Abuja.
Jere also urged well-meaning individuals to ignore the despicable report which he described as fake news . He assured all that the Chinese government does not intend to repossess any of Zambian state-owned enterprises because of the government’s failure to settle its outstanding debt obligations.
Buttressing his point, he said “Zambia has not offered any of its assets as collateral security for any of its bilateral or multilateral loans and therefore, there are no state enterprises at risk of being repossessed.”
Jere has assured that the Zambia’s government is working very hard to revitalize the country’s economic in the face it Covid-19 pandemic through agriculture, tourism and renewable other than mining alone.
